“Wholism Is A Health Issue”

by Pamela Satterwhite

“The price of an oppositional consciousness is eternal vigilance.”

…until it isn’t.

People who work in the carved-out specialty ‘public health’ talk about the importance of changing the environment in order to reduce injuries, rather than trying to change behavior.

So, for instance, if you don’t want a baby to crawl off an edge, it makes more sense to install some rails rather than punish a baby for crawling.

This logic is never contested ’til it’s applied to human behavior as a whole.

We’re wired to be large.

We’re each of us given a multiplicity of gifts…and no way to use them.

Speaking for myself, I’m tired of making a way out of no way.

(Seriously.)

I want a world that endorses my right to be ‘large.’
